The Vault

INTERSTELLAR ACADEMIC COMPLEX

During their residency at the prestigious interstellar academic institution known as The Vault, an intricate complex of megastructures orbiting a colossal black hole amid several stars, Wurren B7-4899 and his fellow scholars were presented with a formidable task to complete during the cyclical recess referred to as the ‘ecliptic break.’ Their mission entailed the creation of a sophisticated world within the three-dimensional realm of a computational program named ‘Big Bang.’ The primary objective revolved around engineering an ecosystem where diverse species could coexist harmoniously, their journey marked by evolution and a perpetual quest for habitat enhancement.

The ecliptic break, akin to what we know on Earth as summer break, spanned a quarter of the time required for a complete orbit around the black hole. During this interval, a slowly passing red giant shielded The Vault and its celestial neighbors from the harmful radiation of the black hole. It was exclusively during this time that scholars could explore the nearby rocky planets. As a newcomer to this academic cycle, Wurren B7-4899’s enthusiasm led him on numerous excursions, unwittingly deferring his commitment to the assigned task.

As the ecliptic break neared its conclusion, with merely any time left,  Wurren B7-4899 put on his interactive computational headset and ventured into Big Bang to initiate the development of his envisioned world. He titled this project ‘Pale Blue Dot.’
