I look at the things you have done,
your holocaust, your wars.
You stubborn ape, you monster,
How could anyone want to keep you for themselves.
Yet I see within your eyes the glow of a million quasars.
You intricate machine, genetic wonder,
a fountain of awe, a color not found elsewhere in the expanse.
You human being,
why can’t I destroy you when I know you will be the end of me,
and even after material death you’ll haunt me.
